Driving home late one night in southeast England, Annie Bunker and her boyfriend turned down a dark alley when something caught their eye — a flash of glowing eyes reflecting in the headlights. At first, it looked like just one fox. Then another pair appeared. And another.
Curious, Bunker quickly raised her phone and snapped a picture.

When she looked at the photo, she couldn’t believe what she saw. What seemed like a single fox was actually an entire group hiding in plain sight.
“I’ve never seen that many hanging around like that!” Bunker told The Dodo. “They were all so chilled out, [they] didn't wanna move or really care about our presence.”
Spotting foxes isn’t unusual in Bunker’s area — but seeing so many together was something special.
“We see foxes a lot — [we] pass them when we’re walking and such,” Bunker explained. “They are very timid here, so [they] tend to run away, but as a group they are more confident, so they kinda hang there and wait for the humans to leave.”

Excited by the moment, Bunker posted the photo online and challenged people to count how many foxes were hidden in the frame. At least six can be spotted if you look closely — though it’s possible there were even more watching quietly from the shadows.

For Bunker, the unexpected encounter was unforgettable.
“I absolutely love foxes,” she said. “They are such beautiful creatures.”
