Breanna was driving down a quiet road when something small caught her eye — a little creature struggling to cross all alone.
She pulled over right away, just in time to see a frightened puppy dart into the tall grass.
“Why would you leave a puppy on the side of the road?” she wrote on TikTok. “That’s just mean.”
She could’ve kept going — but she didn’t. Instead, Breanna got out and began gently calling to the puppy, later named Koa, hoping to earn his trust.
He stayed hidden at first, unsure if it was safe, but her patience and calm voice slowly worked their magic.
Eventually, Koa peeked his tiny head out — skinny, filthy, and crawling with fleas — and cautiously approached the woman who refused to give up on him.
Breanna scooped him up and drove straight home. During the ride, Koa curled up uncertainly and kept his wide eyes fixed on her. It was clear he’d been through more than any puppy should, but help had finally arrived.
Once home, Breanna gave Koa a warm bath, scrubbing away the grime and fleas while reassuring him that he was safe now. Though still a little nervous, Koa began to relax — and it didn’t take long for Breanna to make a decision: Koa was staying.
“He’s definitely gonna be a part of our family now,” she said.
Since that day, Koa has blossomed. He's playful, loyal, and never leaves Breanna’s side — a happy shadow who knows exactly who saved him. One chance encounter on the side of the road changed everything, and now Koa is thriving in a home full of love.
