The Lacey Township Police Department is investigating a sickening case of animal cruelty after retrieving the corpses of 3 dead dogs from an empty home.

The emaciated dogs were allegedly abandoned by a 29-year-old woman named Allissa DeStefano who was supposed to care for them.

Currently, the cops are unable to determine the period of time for which the dogs were starving on their own.

Allissa, who is from Toms River, will be charged with three counts of animal cruelty when found.

The cops are unable to locate Allissa and her phone number has also turned out to be untraceable.

If you have any information on Allissa or the identity of the dead dogs, please contact the authorities.

Let’s get the word out and help the cops find and arrest this irresponsible woman.

Update: The Lacey Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office have updated that Allissa was arrested, but later released on a summons. She is set to appear in Lacey Township Municipal Court on a future date. We hope these poor dogs get justice for the unimaginable pain they endured. Let’s push for a strict sentence for Allissa if she is found guilty. Get the word out.
