Animal Abuser Found Guilty Of Duct Taping Dog’s Mouth Shut For Barking

A woman in Wake County, North Carolina was so frustrated with her dog’s barking that she did something cruel to the innocent animal. Katie Brown, also known as Katie Lemansky, was found guilty of duct-taping her dog’s mouth shut.

Lemansky was busted after she posted the photograph to her Facebook wall with the message, “This is what happens when you don’t shut up!”

The 44-year-old woman was charged with animal cruelty after a few law enforcement agencies in three states tracked her down. The story made international headlines, as animal lovers worldwide expressed their outrage.

Cary Police Captain Randall Rhyne said in a news release, “It’s important to also note that our animal control officers who physically examined both Brown and her littermate found the dogs to be very well cared for, which is why we did not and could not remove them from the owner.”

Though Lemansky reported the duct tape was on the dog for 15 to 20 seconds, causing pain constitutes animal cruelty. The judge in her case sentenced her to probation and court fees. We are grateful this dog is okay and that this woman was prosecuted.
