8 Pups & 3 Dogs Suffer In Hot Trailer With No Air Conditioning, Food, Or Water

Imagine the temperature is scorching hot outside and you have no water, food, or air conditioning to keep you cool.

Now imagine you are a puppy and are completely unable to defend yourself against a cruel owner.

A man in Brooksville, Florida recently called 911 to report an issue with dogs while another caller reported dogs running free from a travel trailer in the area.

Animal Enforcement Officers managed to corral two of the dogs and then approached the trailer to see what was inside. Inside, they found an emaciated dog and eight puppies.

According to deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Colleen Meter kept the dogs inside a trailer that got as hot as 108 degrees.

One of the Animal Enforcement Officers was so overcome with the heat inside the trailer that he, too, had to be treated for heat exhaustion.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook with an update. They stated, “While attempting to confine the adult female dog, AEOs heard puppies whimpering and saw one puppy on the floor of the travel trailer. The puppy, soaked with sweat and warm to the touch, was removed and placed in the cab of the AEO’s vehicle in an effort to lower its body temperature. Upon removing the adult female dog, AEOs noted that she was emaciated, with her hip, back, and rib bones protruding.”

A total of seven puppies were removed from the scene, and a day later an additional puppy was located under a piece of furniture inside the trailer.

The total count of animals removed includes one adult female, two adult males, and eight puppies, all Pit Bull mixes.

Citations were issued to Meyer for animal bite, mistreatment, and unrestrained animal. Animal cruelty charges are pending.
