Millionaire loses his beloved dog, rescues over 2000 stray dogs in his honor

When Wang Yan, a Chinese millionaire, lost his beloved dog, he was devastated. His dog and him had been together for years and to lose a best friend that’s been there for you through thick and thin left a heavy void in Yan’s heart. Yan searched all over the city in a desperate attempt to find his companion.

But it was to no avail. He couldn’t find his dog anywhere, but a friend suggested a chilling option that Yan didn’t think of previously.

Yan tells a Chinese newspaper, “I went looking everywhere, but all to no avail. Finally, someone let me go into the slaughterhouse to try my luck there.”

For the next week, Yan visited the slaughterhouse each day in hopes that his dog would appear. When he finally conceded and accepted that his dog was gone forever, Yan decided to honor his dog in a very special way.

With his hard-earned money, Yan purchased an abandoned steel mill and transformed it into a dog shelter. He had seen very tragic sights at the slaughterhouse and was appalled by how dogs were treated there.

Yan understood the beauty and joy that dogs can bring to life, and he believes every dog should have the opportunity to make a person as happy as his dog once made him.

Since opening the shelter, Yan has helped rescue over 2,000 stray dogs that were scheduled to be slaughtered.
