A dog was brought into the shelter to be dropped off with his owner saying that the boy couldn’t walk anymore. The family could no longer care for the pet, and he was placed on the euthanasia list that day.
But things wouldn’t go that far with McKenzie stepping up to foster him in an effort to try and get this poor dog right.
But it was an emotional trip to the vet the next morning. The dog was diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy, and the number one recommendation was to humanely put the dog to sleep because of everything he’d been through.
Not wanting his last day on earth to be sitting alone in an exam room, McKenzie asked if she could take him home for one good last day.

That’s when they took the good boy out to the front yard for a little picnic and decided to hoist him up and see if they could get him to walk.
And much to their surprise, Doc was able to get around with the help!

The couple right then and there said they could not go through with letting him be put down, and it signaled a brand new beginning!
Doc showed that he wanted to press on, and McKenzie and Grant wanted nothing more than to see it through. Sometimes you just need to give an old dog a chance! 😉
