The world-renowned video begins with this: “And on the 9th day God looked down on his wide-eyed children and said, they need a companion. So God made a Dog.” This powerful sentiment, that God himself knew how much we would need dogs… more than they would need us… is at the core of every dog lover’s heart.
We are not here for our dogs, although they may think we are. They are, in fact, here for us. They are the ones who comfort us without reason, who lick our tears, soothe our souls and NEVER expect much in return. They really only need a warm place to sleep, some good food to eat, and some pats on the head. Knowing this, is there any doubt that God created dogs?
Think about it! The video goes on: “God said I need somebody willing to sit, then stay, then roll over, then with no ego or complaint dress in hats they do not need and costumes they do not understand. I need somebody who can break wind without a first care or second thought. Who can chase tails, sniff crotches, fetch sticks and lift spirits with a lick. Somebody who no matter what you didn’t do or couldn’t take or didn’t win or couldn’t make, will love you without judgement just the same. So God made a Dog.”
Again: “Somebody who no matter what you didn’t do or couldn’t take or didn’t win or couldn’t make, will love you without judgement just the same.”
Arguably the purest of ALL creatures is the one beside you now. The one who will always long to be beside you no matter what kind of day she had, or how much as she ages, her bones may ache. She will always want you! She will always cherish you and see the good in you.
