Man calls info on lost dog’s tag to hear they weren’t looking for her and didn’t care

Countless pets are abandoned and left to fend for themselves. The reasons are pathetic and unjust. There are plenty of options when you no longer ‘want’ to care for an animal but still, so many dogs, like the one in this story, are left behind and it’s heartbreaking.

In a twist of fate, however, being left by her owners was the best thing that could have ever happened to her.

This is Freya’s story.

One man posted his experience with a homeless dog on Imgur. He saw her wandering the streets in Georgia.

This is Freya. She was dumped in our neighborhood. Tag was still on her with her owners phone number, after relentless calling they finally answered and informed us that ‘they weren’t looking for her.’

Weren’t looking for her?! You’d expect a phone call like this one to go completely different. Wouldn’t her owners be grateful to know their ‘lost dog’ is okay? Wouldn’t they want to pick her up immediately? Yea, we will never quite understand, but Freya’s story continues:

After the kind man took Freya to the vet, he found out she had some issues: one of her eyes was foggy from an old wound, she was 20 lbs underweight, and she had heartworms.

He wrote:

Turns out she has heartworms…Probably why they dumped her. Fixable, a little pricey, but whatever, she’s a good pup and worth it. So to the asshats that ‘weren’t looking’…Thanks for the house broken and fully trained Husky.

Freya’s new dad and his family have a history of saving dogs in need. No matter their condition. He added:

My first dog growing up was a mutt covered in motor oil and its sh*t. My family never turns away an animal in need.

Freya is now living her best life. Her abandonment is sad and her stint of the streets is horrible, but we can’t help thinking she is SO MUCH BETTER OFF!

Please remember: If for any reason you cannot care for your pet any longer, do the right thing and contact your local animal shelter, rescue group or veterinarian. Post his or her photo onto social media asking for help. There is no excuse to abandon a pet on the streets.
