This is a story about a dog named Rufo, a pit bull mix that nobody wanted. At the age of one he was turned into a shelter just outside of New York City. He was a happy loving boy and the staff thought someone would soon adopt him. But weeks turned into months and months into years. Nobody wanted him. The staff couldn't understand why.
Each day was the same for Rufo. He was put into a run for two hours so he could exercise. This he loved, especially when a staff member would toss a ball for him. But the remaining twenty two hours he spent in his cage. The shelter listed him on Petfinder, but there were still no takers. Many other shelters would have euthanized him. After all, he was nearly seven years old.
But these dedicated city employees wouldn't give up. There had to be someone for Rufo. But who? Rufo had already spent nearly half his life waiting. He was so very sweet but he was now middle-aged. Did Rufo eventually get adopted? Watch the video on the next page to find out!
