UPS Driver Hears Cries Of A Dog During A Delivery, Jumps Into Icy Pond To Save Her

UPS driver Ryan Arens was making a pre-Christmas delivery in a cold afternoon in Bozeman, Montana, when he heard the frantic cries of a dog in distress. It was almost sunset, and he was barely able to see where the sound came from.

Being a dog lover himself, he decided to stop and investigate further. The nagging screams led him to a dog named Sadie, who was surrounded by ice, about 10 or 15 feet from the shore. An elderly man in a row-boat was trying to chip the ice to reach the canine.

Ryan was told that animal officers were on the way, but he realized that the dog wouldn’t last that long. So he quickly stripped to his boxers and got into the boat to save Sadie. But she was losing her grip and starting to go under.

That’s when he jumped in the icy water to get her, risking his own life in the process. After drying himself off and ensuring Sadie’s safety, he resumed his route to complete his deliveries. The two recently had a reunion and two-and-a-half-year-old Sadie instantly recognized her savior as she ran to him with all her love!

Ryan fondly told the Great Falls Tribune, “This dog had a whole lot of life left in her, and I’m really glad I was able to act when I did. She’s a sweetheart.”

Thank you, Ryan, for being the brave-hearted savior that Sadie needed!
