Retired interior designer Darlene was getting her nails done when a conversation with her manicurist took a worrying turn.
The manicurist claimed that her son never fed or cared for his dog, Smokey. She wanted to get Smokey euthanized, but was unwilling to spend the $200 fee for the process.
However, the moment Darlene saw the skeletal dog’s picture on the manicurist’s phone, she knew she had to intervene.

Being a passionate animal lover, Darlene was heartbroken to learn that even the manicurist that she liked so much wasn’t feeding the dog. The poor thing was just pushed out into the yard and forgotten.
Darlene rushed Smokey to the vet, where it was found that his health was in shreds due to months of starvation and neglect.

“Forte Animal Rescue” took in Smokey and helped him get better over the next few months. The dog impressed everyone with his resilience and was even adopted by a warm and loving family after his recovery!
He became the darling of his new parents and also found a forever best friend in his lovely human sister!
