Golden Delivers Groceries To Elderly Neighbor Who’s Stuck In Quarantine

While people all over the world are quarantined in their homes during the coronavirus pandemic, we are seeing communities come together to help each other out and make these hard times a little easier.

Karen Evelth, of Colorado, was concerned for her neighbor, Renee Hellman, who has COPD and other medical conditions that make her more susceptible of the Covid-19 virus.

Since Hellman was in quarantine and not able to leave her house, Evelth wanted to do what she could to help her.

That’s when she came up with the genius idea of getting her Golden Retriever, Sundance (Sunny) involved. She trained Sunny to walk over to Hellman’s home and retrieve her grocery list every day.

Then each night, he would deliver Hellman’s groceries so that she wouldn’t have to leave her house or worry about running out of food and supplies.

Sunny has now been doing these grocery deliveries for several weeks now, and they plan on continuing it as long as Hellman needs.

“He does get his treats, he’s motivated by those for sure. But he’s really special to me, and I’d be lost without him because he helps me so much, so I wanted him to help other people,” Evelth told ABC 7 NY. “That’s exactly what he did. Pretty proud.”
