No one ever wants to face the sad situation of having to give their dog up to an animal shelter. Sadly, every day that’s exactly what happens when people get older and can’t care for their pet or they just don’t have the means to do so. For one woman, she knew that it was the right thing to do in giving her dog away.

She did something that most folks never do when they have to give a dog away. The sweet lady sat down and wrote a letter to the shelter. In the letter, she said, “I’ve been fighting cancer for a few months and if you’re reading this, I lost my battle. I need for my baby girl to be taken care of in a home… In these days, all I do is worry about what’s going to happen to her. I love this girl, she is my daughter.”

Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared a photo of the dog with a letter to be sure the sweet pooch, named Shell, would get the most loving home in the worst.
A sweet local woman watching the nightly news saw the story about Shell and knew she had to have her. After filling out the application and getting approved, Shell nearly instantly bonded with her. We are grateful for caring people who step up and do the right thing. We’ve got all the feels right now. How about you?
