82-Year-Old Retired Man Found A New Calling And Built A Dog Train For Foster Dogs

Retired people are often looking for new ways to feel fulfilled within their hearts and with their time. One retiree named Eugene Bostick, an 82-year-old man from Fort Worth Texas, wanted to do what he could to help dogs while making his own heart happy and boy did he succeed!

Eugene lives on a large property and found that people sometimes abandoned dogs there (or nearby), and those poor dogs had nowhere to go. So he started feeding and taking care of the pups. But now that he was retired and had plenty of time to spare, he wanted to do more for the dogs with his time. That’s when he saw a man pulling rocks on a makeshift tractor-train and thought that would make for a great train for dogs.

Being a good welder, Eugene set about building his own dog-train. He cut plastic barrels and attached them to a tractor to make for a 9-cart train that could take 9 dogs on a ride at a time. And off he went, taking the dogs on joy-rides, much to the locals’ delight!

“Whenever they hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited. They all come running and jump in on their own. They’re ready to go,” Bostick told The Dodo. “I’m getting up in age. I’m 80 now, so I suppose it can’t last too much longer, but I’ll keep it going as long as I can. The dogs have a great time. They just really enjoy it.”

We love what Eugene has done for these dogs. What a great way to find happiness post-retirement! Toot-toot!
