An Ode To Chris Evans’ Cutest Moments With His Rescue Dog, Dodger

Chris Evans rescued Dodger, a rescue dog, six years ago and has since posted pictures of the two of them on social media. Think of their cutest moments in the past.

Although a dog is a man’s best friend, Chris Evans’ dog Dodger may perhaps be his true love.

The Captain America actor has dated his fair share of famous people over the years, but it is obvious that since he adopted Dodger more than five years ago, his beloved pet has taken precedence in his life.

Thanks to the cute pictures and videos the 41-year-old have published since he saved Dodger while filming one of his movies in 2016, their love story has caught people’s attention and touched their hearts on social media.

After receiving the super-soldier serum, the actor who plays Lightyear and Dodger’s bond is greater than Steve Rogers, as seen by their matching outfits and cozy Saturday nights spent.

So, if your heart can take it, relive the cutest moments between Evans and Dodger. Warning: Your eyes could be in tears.

Chris Evans released a touching video of the first time he saw his pet dog in 2016 on National Dog Rescue Day in 2021. Evans had no intention of raising a dog during the time he was making the movie Gifted, but destiny had other ideas.

“I was filming a movie in Savannah and the scene took place at a shelter,” Evans wrote. “I had no intention of rescuing a dog that day, but the minute I saw him I knew he was coming home w me.” He added, “There are so many loving animals at shelters who are in desperate need of a home. Visit a shelter and leave with a best friend.”

Evans kept track of the days till he would be reunited with Dodger on social media during their separation while the actor was filming a movie. And in September 2017, he published a touching video of their reunion, bursting with cuddles and dog kisses.

“After 10 long weeks,” Evans captioned the Twitter video that instantly went viral.

On the set of Netflix’s The Gray Man, Evans was able to make a wardrobe mishap into a twinning moment for him and Dodger.

Evans posted on Instagram, “While filming #thegrayman the wardrobe department accidentally shrunk one of Lloyd’s shirts.” Of course, it was to gift to Dodger, who is seen in the picture donning a scaled-down facsimile of the blue collared shirt Evans’ nasty character wears in the movie. “I obviously kept it for one reason,” he said.

Evans gave Dodger the best present for Christmas in 2019: the renowned cream cable knit sweater that his character wore in Knives Out. Someone has to give J.Crew a quick call so they can hire Dodger as a model for their upcoming catalog.

The fact that Dodger was not pleased with the costume the Knives Out alum dressed him in for Halloween in 2020 suggests that Dodger does not particularly enjoy the spooky season.

Evans said “Happy Halloween!” in the caption of a photo of Dodger in a lion costume on Instagram. “(He hated every second of it).”

When Evans tweeted a side-by-side photo with Dodger in November of last year, it may have been the prettiest doggone selfie we have ever seen. The actor titled the photo “Twins” to increase the cuteness factor.

Aly Raisman, an Olympic gold medalist gymnast, and Evans collaborated to create a meet-cute between their rescue dogs, Dodger and Mylo, in November 2020.

The video shows Evans advising the dogs, “Be gentle, be gentle,” in footage of the hangout that Raisman posted on Twitter. Evans then asks Dodger, “You got a new buddy?” while laughing.

Later, the two celebrities uploaded a video of Evans kissing and caressing Raisman’s puppy as “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)” by John Parr from 1985 played in the background. “Best buds @ChrisEvans,” Raisman tweeted.

Have you ever wondered what Evans does on Saturdays? In August 2021, when he uploaded a video of what happened after he bought a touchpad for Dodger, he provided the solution to that riddle.

Evans posted on Instagram, “After a couple of days of training he began connecting the dots. This video is from a couple of days ago when he was just starting to understand that the buttons are buttons. He’s already made so much progress and I laugh out loud every time I hear him press one. I thought ‘treat’ would be the most used. Turns out it’s ‘play’ and I f—king love that about him.”

Then, he added: “(This is what I do on a Saturday night).” And we adore that about him.
