Animal Aid received a call about an old dog cowering in the thicket just trying to hide her pain from the world. The poor girl had suffered a devastating blow, and her lung was ripped open. Rescuers could see the air blowing out from the giant wound on her side. They had to get her to the hospital as soon as possible to save her life.
The girl struggled to breathe with just the one lung, and rescuers were worried she may be too old to make it through the long procedure. It’s hard to watch in spots seeing the wounded lung, but know that this stray puts up a fight to pull through in the end. It’s totally worth it. 🙂
It took two hours of surgery to repair the many layers of torn tissue, and then she needed a little encouragement to eat. This senior dog suffered such a horrible injury, but her will to live was so strong. Wait until you see Maxine today!
