If there is one thing that all newborn babies do, it’s cry.
Usually, newborns and small babies can be soothed by a few things. We hold them, sing to them, feed them, change their diapers, and make sure that all of their other primary needs are met. Sometimes, like with this newborn, all of that just isn’t enough.
This tiny baby just wouldn’t stop crying on a floor cushion and needed some extra love and attention. Peanut the labrador witnessed this and couldn’t let the poor baby continue to cry on the ground. He knew something had to be done.
Peanut made his way over to the infant and paused for a moment, assessing the scene. The newborn was whining and fidgeting in a blanket with no relief.
Realizing this, Peanut quickly reached down and rubbed his head against the newborn’s. In an instant, a smile emerged on the newborn’s face.
The labrador started licking the baby’s head, making even more of an impact. The newborn’s cries grew fainter, perhaps even into sounds of excitement or gratitude.
When Peanut thought that his job was over, he stopped licking the baby and raised his head. Unfortunately, that was not the right call.
The newborn began to fuss again, with louder cries this time.
Determined to help, Peanut started to lick the little baby’s head again. It was clear that this dog selflessly loved his owner and intuitively knew how to be a source of comfort.
