This Couple Was Tired Of Sleepless Nights With Their 8 Dogs, So They Found A Clever Solution

Most pet owners know how difficult it can be to get a good night’s rest when you let the family pets share the bed. There never seems to be enough room. Well, imagine sharing the bed with 8 dogs!

That was the problem for one New York couple. Chris and Mariesa Hughes loved sharing their bed with their beloved dogs, but the canines seemed to have a pillow-hogging habit.

They didn’t want to kick their fur babies out of the bed, so they came up with an idea to build a bed that had plenty of room for everyone.

“At nighttime all of the dogs want to sleep on the bed and sometimes it becomes too cluttered and we end up being pushed off of the bed or sleeping on the couch,” Chris, who works as a furniture maker in upstate New York, told Today.

The Hughes built what they call the “mega bed.” Spanning 14 feet long and 7 feet wide, this massive bed makes a twin bed look like it belongs in a doll house. It even features stairs to give their older dogs a boost when getting into bed.

The unique creation was hand-built by Chris and took him 6 months to build. He even solved their storage situation by adding drawers around the base of the bed.

He explained that he even put some sentimental touches in the design, such as paw prints on the headboard in tribute of their 16-year-old dog that recently passed away.

Dogs are this couple’s life, they even founded an organization called the Mr. Mo Project that helps find homes for senior dogs that are set to be euthanized.

Now that the Hughes are getting such good sleep, Mariesa jokes that the couple has been tempted to adopt more dogs.

“I’m sure one of these days we will find out,” she said.
