Couple Reunited With Their Long Lost Service Dog After 3 Years

Debra Mejeur and her husband were visiting friends in Chicago three years ago, and they took the service dog, Lola, with them as they always did.

Lola is specifically trained to alert her owner of seizures, so Debra relies on the dog to keep her safe. Somehow, Lola disappeared while surrounded by a fence. No one knows how it happened or where Lola went, but she was gone.

The Mejeurs tried to find Lola and also returned for a month trying to find a dog trained to help Debra in the event of a seizure, but they had no luck. The couple believed they’d never see Lola again until one day recently the phone rang.

First, the authorities in DuPage County, Illinois received a phone call from a couple in Glendale Heights. They had been leaving food and water for her, as the dog would retreat into a forest preserve.

The dog was brought into the local shelter, and a microchip scan revealed her identity. When Debra got the call that Lola was at the DuPage County Animal Services Shelter, she could not believe her ears.

“I feel like I’m in a dream right now,” Debra Mejeur said as she and her husband were reunited with Lola.

As soon as Lola saw the couple and took one sniff of her old blanket, she started wagging her tail and was ecstatic to see her mom and dad.

Watch the amazing reunion in the video below. Welcome home, Lola!
