Also known as the Italian Mastiff, the Cane Corso is a breed of dog that has been long known for it’s value as a guard dog as well as a hunter. The Cane Corso also makes an excellent companion animal. It’s not particularly recommended as a family dog, as they’re a highly independent breed that needs an experienced handler to train.

As puppies, the Cane Corso needs firm handling and training and proper socialization to ensure that they remain non-aggressive to strangers and only exhibit aggression at clear and dangerous threats.

However, if your Cane Corso is properly trained and socialized, they will make an excellent addition to the family, and will spend the 11 years of it’s life with you as a dog that will be good around children and strangers.
