During an interview, this veteran has a panic attack, his hero service dog steps in

A camera crew traveled to the home of Erick Scott, a 16-year military veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). What started as a typical interview, with Erick sharing his love of country and service, took a turn when the veteran began to suffer from a panic attack.

While the female interviewer was empathizing with Erick, it was his service dog, a Labrador Retriever named Gumbo, who proved to be the true hero that day.

With the cameras rolling, Erick is seen giving his dog a “sit-stay” command, which service dogs are trained to obey. When Erick begins to get visibly upset as he discusses his diagnosis and his behavior after returning home from military service, the first signs of a panic attack begin.

Gumbo realizes his owner is unwell even before Erik does. He breaks a sit-stay to move in like a true warrior and take care of his doggy dad.
