50-year-old farmer stands alone and sweeps barn – now watch when his favorite song comes on

Jay Lavery, the local farmer who became an internet sensation after posting a barn dance viewed by more than 7 million people around the world on Facebook.

Lavery, 50, became an internet sensation after he posted a video that showed him dancing to Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” on a hay-covered barn floor as the goats looked on at his Schoharie County farm.

It looks like an ordinary day on the farm. Farmer Jay Lavery is in his barn sweeping up some hay next to his goats.

Fortunately, Jay decided to upload the clip on his Facebook page. Lavery decided to upload the clip on his Facebook page. There, he describes how dancing isn’t just a way to keep warm in the barn—it’s also his medicine. He had a traumatic back injury 15 years ago, and now dance, yoga, and meditation are his alternatives to pain medication.

“I hope this can inspire anyone to move in spite of pain and I hope this puts a smile on your face,” he writes.

Well, Jay’s video certainly had me beaming from ear to ear!

Not bad for a farmer having a little fun in the barn!

It's that time of the year for the Lets Move Challenge. Dancing is how I stay warm in the barn and I never know when I'm going to break out into a dance. But what most people don't know is that 15 years ago I had a traumatic back injury that caused me to have several back surgeries including a discectomy and a spinal fusion and never ending back pain. Dancing along with yoga and meditation are my only alternatives to pain medication. So I hope this can inspire anyone to move in spite of pain and I hope this puts a smile on your face for the New Year.
