Imagine how scary the world would seem to a tiny sick dog that had nowhere to go and couldn’t fend for himself. He only weighed 5 pounds! Everything must have felt so big and frightening! That was this dog’s life until he got the miracle he prayed for.

Rescuers found him living in a chicken coop. That’s where he sought shelter as his diseased body made every moment a living hell. He was found covered in chicken feathers for warmth so his rescuers felt it fitting to name him “Feather”.

Feather was covered in fleas and ticks. He was also suffering from mange, Ehrlichia, and leishmaniasis. The mange caused horrific discomfort, as skin sores formed all over his tiny body. Because the leishmaniasis wasn’t treated, he was also going blind. His hair was severely matted, forming painful and heavy dreadlocks.

The little guy was immediately taken for medical care. They had to shave off his hair to alleviate pain and to treat his skin. It was incredible to see his frail body underneath all those mats!

The vet prescribed several different medications. He had to stay in a kennel with a heat lamp so his body temperature wouldn’t drop to dangerous levels.

He also received special eye drops that would help restore his vision. While he needed medical care, what seemed to matter most to the little dog was being around loving people. He was amazed by all their kindness.

His transformation was incredible. He became a healthy, happy dog that exhibited constant gratitude to everyone he met. Especially to his new forever family.

Feather understands how much better his life is now and never forgets to wag his tail and give a kiss to say ‘thank you for saving me’. We are thrilled for the little dog who sought solace in a chicken coop. His deserving happy ending has our day made!
