Gaia, a pregnant dog, was abandoned in the middle of nowhere in central California. Shortly afterward, she was hit by a car and was seriously injured. In her injured condition, and with a broken leg, Gaia still managed to give birth to three beautiful puppies.
Two women found the puppies and fed them while they sought help from rescue organizations. The Bill Foundation along with Hope For Paws took up this case and arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, two hours before their arrival, the mama dog had been hit by another car and had died.
Eldad Hagar from Hope For Paws drove to find the dead momma dog on the side of the road and promised her that he would save her puppies.
Since the puppies were too scared to come out of the pipe they were residing in, Eldad decided to put the mama dog’s body at the entrance of the pipe, hoping it would make the puppies come out.
And it worked!
One by one, the puppies come out and Eldad grabs them and calms them down. This man truly is an angel!
They name the three pups Sydney, Matilda, and Gabriella. They were very scared initially, but all it took was some toys to get the puppies comfortable in their new environment and open up to the rescuers!
Eldad believes Gaia was looking over the rescue operation all along and it was with her blessing that her puppies are now safe and healthy.
