Grandpa’s Concerns That the Dog Wouldn’t Recognize Him After a Year Apart, But The Excited Dog Rushes Towards Him

One of the best things in life, and I know you will agree with me on this, is coming home to a dog bounding up to welcome you after a long day at work.

One of the many reasons we appreciate our canine friends so much is the absolute, unrestrained delight and thrill of your existence.

Will a dog eventually forget about you after years apart? Thankfully, as evidenced by this story, they won’t!

After a year of being away, a blind and deaf puppy saw her grandfather, the owner’s father, and despite the owner’s fears of a broken bond, the puppy went into ecstatic overdrive.

On TikTok, a sweet video of a man named Steve reconciling with his daughter’s dog, Bitsy, went viral.

Hayden Kristal’s dog is special because she was born deaf and blind, but Hayden did not let that stop her from adopting the puppy when she was just five weeks old.

At first, they were worried about how the puppy would handle life, but she rapidly proved they had nothing to fear.

Hayden said, “She has been her own woman since day one. The first thing she did when I brought her home was to make a beeline for the food dish, crawl into it and eat until she passed out.”

Five years later, she is still a stunning, vivacious dog that still loves spending time with her mother, a few siblings, and other family members.

Bitsy and her mother were forced to live apart from their relatives last year after COVID restrictions were put in place to ensure their safety.

As a result, the puppy and the father would be separated for an entire year.

According to the caption, her dad was concerned that Bitsy will forget him after a year apart, but that was not the case because the dog knew her grandpa’s embrace right away.

She was licking at the man’s face while leaping up and down. Steve was as delighted to see the puppy as she was to see him, and a smile never left his face.

“As soon as I got within scent range, she totally lost her mind with joy. So did I,” Steve wrote on Facebook.

“Once again Bitsy proved that the abilities she has are far more impressive than the ones she’s missing. What a truly amazing and wonderful soul. Maybe you can tell from this video how much we love each other.”

Hayley’s father spends as much time as possible with his granddog because he loves the animal more than he could have ever imagined. He is her biggest supporter and fan, according to Hayden.

“He will tell anyone who will listen about what an amazing dog she is and how much he loves her. He does the typical grandpa things of spoiling her with treats and toys and she loves to just hang out near him.”

Bitsy and her mother have taken several trips across the country, hiking, canoeing, riding the subway, and even skating.

“Bitsy is the sweetest, friendliest, most loving, and loyal dog in the world,” Hayden said. “She is bold and sassy and she loves adventure! ” She also seems to have a love of ribs and BBQ sauce.

“She’s taught me so much about love, life, and swallowing whole rotisserie chickens before an authority figure can wrench the bird shrapnel from your thieving hyena jaws,” she said in her Instagram post.

It is wonderful that the family can now be back together. Even though dogs can see and hear, Pet Place claims that their primary sense of perception is smell.

As a result, dogs without hearing will rely on touch and smell to alert them when a person is nearby, which will cause them to become much more attached to their human friends than previously.

For stability and comfort, they significantly rely on predictable routines, so maintaining things like bedding and feeding bowls in the same spot is helpful.

The big query at this point is how much a dog can recall.

For all those years, Hachi waited for his owner at the railway station, but was there more to it than just habit and loyalty?

Swifto asserts that, unlike humans, dogs have a distinct method for storing, processing, and recalling memories.

They probably don’t recall all the meals they’ve had since they have poor short-term memory, which is why they keep asking for more food.

They have an associative memory, which implies that rather than having true memories, they recall experiences based on associations.

As a result, Bitsy most likely recognized the grandpa by his voice and fragrance, which served as a reminder of who he was.

You don’t need to be concerned that your dog will soon forget you.

And if you come across a particular puppy as such, there are lots of services available, so put your fear aside and start cuddling puppies!

However, adopt properly and ensure that you can provide for your dogs.

We send Bitsy and her family our warmest wishes and will keep up with their travels and joie de vivre.
