He Curled Up In A Ball, Waiting 2 Years For A Family Who’d Never Come For Him

When Richard first arrived at the shelter in July 2017, he was sick, starving, and hairless, yet still so sweet.

Despite everything he had been through, he continued to act like a complete gentleman. He was completely trusting of shelter staff, and even let them bathe him with ease.

Just when Richard seemed to be getting better, things took a turn for the worst. He stopped eating and seemed to be fading away.

But he proved to still have a lot of fight left in him, and a few months later, he turned over a new leaf and seemed like a whole new dog.

He looked like a whole new dog too. His hair had grown back into a beautiful coat, his eyes were wide and gleaming, and he just looked so much happier overall.

“Being around Richard calms you down, it makes you want to lay back and just enjoy the moment, contemplate, forget,” dog rescuer Valia Orfanidou wrote.

Richard is a very pleasant dog to be around, almost in a therapeutic kind of way. Yet despite his gentle nature and loving ways, he still waits at the shelter, two and a half years later, without a home.

“I just want to go to the shelter one day and not see him there,” Orfanidou wrote. “I don’t want him to be there anymore, he belongs outside, he belongs to the world, he belongs to a family.”
