Few bands have the power to pump you up like AC/DC. The classic hard rockers behind have supplied the soundtrack to many wild nights since the 70s.
But it’s not just people who respond strongly to the band—apparently animals do too. Which is how some officers in Montana managed to get a bison safely off one of their highways: by blasting a classic AC/DC track.
The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, in Montana, says that their deputies often have to deal with “unusual duties,” and one recent story proves that big time.
The county is located near Yellowstone National Park, and earlier this month, the department was tasked with handling a stray bison who had gotten onto the highway.
It’s not an unusual situation for the officers, who can usually nudge the bison to safety using loud noises: “They turn on lights and siren and encourage the animal to leave the road with an air horn.”
But this reluctant bison was apparently not budging.
So instead, the officers turned to classic rock to save the day.
They hooked up the ol’ Back in Black 8-track (probably) and blasted AC/DC’s “Hell’s Bells.” Whether the bison was scared off by Angus Young’s power chords or simply energized by lyrics like “I’m a rolling thunder, a pouring rain I’m comin’ on like a hurricane,” he did indeed move off the road.
Is this what the song “Highway to Hell” is about? Yes, probably.
It’s a funny story, but the important thing is that the bison made it safely off the road, ensuring that there would be no traffic incidents. It’s just that sometimes, you have to get creative.
