He Was Given 3 Months To Live Until His 3 Dogs Inspired A Miracle

Zach Skow was a chronic alcoholic and drug user who abused his body so much that he nearly died. At 28 years of age, Zach was given three months to live unless he had a liver transplant. The comedy club employee had to stay sober for six months in order to qualify for a liver. Turned out what it took to save his life wasn’t just a new liver but the companionship of three very special dogs.

Tug, Marley, and Buddy shared life with Zach and he decided to focus on them. Zach took them for walks, exercised with them, and started working harder to stay sober. His dogs motivated him to do the right thing. Zach wondered if he would qualify for a liver transplant since his dogs helped him get healthy and stay that way.

Zach was so happy and grateful that he formed Marley’s Mutts, a non-profit organization to help dogs in high-kill shelters get forever homes. As of this writing, the group saved over 5,000 dogs and also works with pairing prisoners with dogs to train.
