Junior and his four brothers were abandoned in an irrigation channel when they were just a few weeks old. They had to fend for themselves and figure out how to survive on their own.
They were rescued and brought to a shelter, but sadly, the only puppy who survived was Junior. His siblings wound up passing away from parvo, but somehow he miraculously recovered.

Junior made new friends at the shelter who were just like him – puppies who have lost their mothers and siblings as well.
But despite everything they’ve been through, Junior and the other puppies were still very happy and friendly.

It didn’t take long before a mother and her son fell in love with Junior and decided to adopt him. Now called Ben Junior, he is having the time of his life with his new humans in Holland.
Sadly, many puppies like Junior and his siblings are dumped on the streets of Greece.

“Junior symbolizes almost everything that we do wrong with dogs here in Greece, and many countries like Greece,” Valia Orfanidou wrote.
“Lack of education, sterilizations that never happen, unwanted pregnancies, unwanted litters, disregarding of the ‘problems’ like trash, animal welfare depending on few volunteers forced to deal everything, from rescuing, to providing medical care, sheltering and rehoming.”
“And of course, the unbelievable ridiculousness of the vast majority of the public that keep buying purebred cheap puppies coming in from puppy mills in the Balcans, while puppies like Junior die on the streets or grow up in shelters.”
