Kaja is a friendly 10-year-old dog who happened to come across a sadistic child. Kaja’s owners often allow the dog out by herself, as they claim she always returns home.
Sadly, the dog crossed paths with a kid who hit her over the head with a piece of wood.
The wood contained a nail that lodged in poor Kaja’s skull. Volunteers from the Association for Animal Protection of Novi Sad found Kaja in the city of Novi Sad in Vojvodina, Serbia.

When they first encountered the female pooch, the nail was poking out of the top of her head. Thanks to a microchip, veterinarians were able to contact the animal’s owners.
As of this writing, the dog is not stable enough for surgery, so she will be monitored and given medications around the clock.
If her condition improves, she will have surgery. It is too soon to know if the dog will make it.

The suspect of this hateful act was found to be a 12-year-old boy. Police spoke to his grandmother and due to his age, they are not releasing his name.
Sadly, this isn’t the first case of animal abuse in Novi Sad recently. Over the past few weeks, at least three dogs have been discovered in rough shape. One of them had his claws ripped off.
