North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has ordered pet dogs to be confiscated in the country’s capital, claiming that the pups represent “Western decadence” and were part of a “tainted trend by bourgeois ideology.”
This is due to the fact that many of the upper-class and high-ranking officials owned pet dogs, while the regular people raised pig and livestock, which may have caused some resentment among the lower classes.
Kim directed authorities to pinpoint all of the households in Pyongyang with pet dogs, and force the owners to give them up. If they won’t comply, the dogs will be forcefully confiscated and euthanized.
While Kim and the authorities claim this move is to buckle down on the differences in social classes, dog owners are suspicious that the round-up of pet dogs is to use them for food consumption, since North Korea is currently suffering from a food shortage.
Dog owners are furious with Kim Jong Un, but have no choice but to have their pets taken away.
In South Korea, dogs are sadly farmed for human consumption and kept in deplorable conditions. They are give little to no food or water and live in the elements crammed into wire cages.
Many of them suffer from malnutrition and disease, yet never receive medical attention.
They then use cruel methods, oftentimes electrocution, to kill the dogs in order to use their meat for food.
