One tiny dog has a very big wish. Her name is Kongji. As she aged, she developed a large tumor that will eventually cause her death. Kongji has lived a full life, in terms of ‘dog years’ but something is still amiss. She isn’t in physical pain but emotionally she’s shutting down. Something has changed in her eyes. She looks like she’s far away.

When her caretaker calls her name, she purposely turns her back on her. She would rather be left alone. She won’t eat without a fight either.

Then it dawns on her human. Kongji knows she’s dying and longs for something before that day comes.
Her human adopted her four years ago. She was already around nine years old. She was found wandering the streets so authorities brought her to an animal shelter. Kongji was clean and well-cared for. The shelter volunteers tried to find her original owner with no luck. So, she was adopted out to a new home.

Kongji’s human goes to the neighborhood where she was found four years earlier. She asks around and shows Kongji’s picture to the locals. They all want to help but it’s been a long time! Kongji is placed on the street where she was found. Will she recognize it? Will she know the way to her old house?

Something seems to light up in Kongji. She starts to walk but falls over from being too weak. Then Kongji’s new human puts up signs around the neighborhood asking if anyone recognizes her.
They have to go back home a lot because Kongji spends up to 12 hours a day in a special oxygen tank to help her breathe. She’s such a little fighter!

As of now, Kongji’s human is still on the quest to find her original owner. She spends each day making phone calls and several days a week going back to the neighborhood. She won’t give up until Kongji gets her final wish. She asks that we help too by sharing this story!
