While out driving, Milan, the founder of Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac, saw a skinny Labrador Retriever crossing the road and wandering into a nearby field.
Milan stopped by the corn field and called to the dog hoping he would come when called. The young dog heard Milan and slowly walked over to him with his tail wagging hopefully.
The dog must have used his last ounces of strength to run over to Milan because as soon as he reached the rescuer he collapsed onto the grass.
“Abandoned, scared and sad, he fell into my arms,” Milan writes. Milan ended up lifting the exhausted stray dog into the car.
But as soon as he was inside the car, the dog perked up and sat up to look at his rescuer; he must have known he was going to a safe place!
Once at the shelter, “Buddy” had his first meal in a long time and fresh water. He got introduced to the rescue pack and it’s clear how relieved Buddy is because he wags his tail happily despite still being visibly tired.
