Camera records mailman approaching dogs at home – Footage shows his true colors

Mailmen and dogs are typically known to be enemies – more on one side than the other. It’s a common trope that dogs have some kind of disagreement with the mailman, leading them to bark and chase after them.

Perhaps the dogs believe they are nobly defending their home by chasing away this potential invader, or maybe they prefer to be the deliverer of mail and are upset that the mailman has that opportunity instead.

Regardless, this video below is a nice twist for the typical dynamic between mailmen and dogs.

One mailman in Texas was recently captured on a home security camera playing with the dogs of one particular home.

Evidently, the dogs anticipate his arrival as they line up eagerly at the gate to greet him. And the mailman clearly feels compelled to give them all a friendly pet, and I don’t blame him. Who could resist such a cute sight?

One of my favorite parts about the video is the fact that the mailman does not give one dog more attention than the other. He makes sure to let each one know that they will get individual pats and affection for being such good, friendly dogs!

Aaron Hernandez’s family owns the dogs and shared the video on Twitter. It quickly went viral, earning over 100,000 likes and over 32,000 retweets.

“I think it was really caring and loving that he took time out of his busy day to do that,” Aaron told The Dodo.

And the cherry on top to this sweet story: this isn’t the first time this encounter has happened. Aaron shares that he has seen the postal worker stop by his gate before to tenderly greet his five dogs.

Aaron thinks it might be the beginning of a wholesome routine.

“He’s a new mailman around the neighborhood and I noticed it a couple of times,” Hernandez said. “I thought it was time to share with everybody!”

I think it’s great that Aaron is okay with the mailman spending a few minutes out of his day with the friendly dogs. Clearly, the pups learned their good manners from their great owner.
