Man Finds Starving, Stray Rottweiler And Tries To Win Her Trust

After finding a starving dog, a kind-hearted Good Samaritan took it upon himself to start feeding her. The rescuer decided to help the Rottweiler himself and not call animal control as he did not want the dog to be given back to her owner, fearing the dog had been abused. According to the Good Samaritan, the dog shows signs of having been beaten and had a large broken chain around her neck.

In the video, the man finally has something of a breakthrough with the dog after two months. “I am trying to get this stray Rottweiler to trust me so I can take him/her to the vet. I realized today that he has infected eyes,” the Good Samaritan writes in the YouTube description. “Tonight I am going to put dewormer and antibiotics in his food. The dog was skin and bones two months ago. My friend and I have been feeding him. Today is the first day that I was able to get near him and check him out.”

Note in the videos, the man refers to the dog as “him” but the dog is, in fact, female.

In the follow up video, the man says he’s arranging to take the dog to the vet. It looks like the dog is finally trusting the man enough to let him pet her, so that’s progress! When responding to one commenter, the man wrote, “I will take him to a no kill shelter, plan to press charges against original owner, I will either adopt him or find him a good home.”

A few days after his first video, the dog’s rescuer has provided this update. The dog turns out to be female and is doing really well after her visit to the vet. It turns out she was covered in coal soot and fleas, which might have been part of the reason her eyes were red and inflamed. So she’s been cleaned up and has been treated for fleas. She also has an ointment for her eyes to help them clear up. In more good news, she is heartworm free. There’s a few more tests that the Good Samaritan wants to run, but overall the dog is doing much better now that she’s been take to the vet!

Let’s hope everything works out for this kind-hearted man and his rescue. Share this story with your friends and family!
