The Louisiana floods of 2016 was one of the worst natural disasters to affect America since Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
Thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed, with at least 30,000 people needing to be evacuated and 13 people confirmed dead.
As a result, local animal shelters were swamped with displaced pets whose owners could not protect them.
So when one Louisiana man decided to patrol areas around Baton Rouge by boat, he made sure to keep an eye out for any animals along with the people he was trying to help.
That’s when, at one point, he spotted something quivering in a bush… but he never could have predicted who he’d meet.
