Melios (or Mel) was abandoned on a busy rural roadway in Greece when he was just a 3-month-old puppy. He had oily mange on his body, while a fractured leg prevented him from moving any further. He dragged himself to a corner and dozed off to forget his pain.

A woman found him in a delirious state and immediately approached him. But poor Mel was so defeated that he did not see any hope for further survival and refused to even look up.
The woman carried Mel’s hurting body to the car and drove him to a rescue in Athens. He was so fragile that the vets had to be very careful while examining him.
Unfortunately, his broken leg was found to be inoperable.

The turning point in Mel’s life came when he got transferred to an experienced foster mom. His new mom took such good care of him that he would sleep like a baby in her arms.
Over the next year, his mange slowly got better while his broken leg healed on its own. He was able to walk, but would limp when he got tired.

One day, out of the blue, Mel approached his foster mom and planted several slobbery kisses on her face. Not just his body but his spirit was healed too, and he desperately wanted to thank the angel who transformed him inside out!

Mel still struggled to find a home due to his limp, but he remained optimistic. Eventually, a family from Holland adopted him and made sure he would never have another bad day in his life!
