Moose, a 3-year-old Labrador mix from New Jersey, was hit hard by the death of his dad after an illness. Now orphaned and heartbroken, Moose spends his days staring listlessly at the empty hospital bed where his dad spent his final days.

A picture of the devastated Moose sitting loyally beside his dad’s bed was shared by Eleventh Hour Rescue and NorthStar Pet Rescue on their respective Facebook pages. Moose has been sitting in the same spot for days now, almost as if he is hoping for his dad to return and take him home.
Moose is all alone and already in the depths of despair. His heart aches for his human and he refuses to leave that bedside. The concerned volunteers hope that Moose finds a forever home soon. He is a doting dog who needs a human’s unconditional love to heal his tattered heart.

Update: Moose’s haunting picture shared by the shelter workers soon went viral and adoption applications poured in from all corners. The workers chose a fitting forever home for Moose.
