A couple in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, had just finished their lunch, when they noticed a strange “moving-rock” in the frozen lake nearby. They grabbed their binoculars, and found that the “rock” was actually a helpless moose, stranded in the frozen ice!

The couple didn’t think twice, and put on their ice skates, as they rushed out to rescue the struggling creature. But when they approached the moose, she got scared and cowered in fear. Soon, the moose’s shivering, exhausted body started giving away, as she lay her head on the ice and surrendered to her fate.
With no other option, the couple took turns to break the ice with an axe, to create a pathway for the moose to get out. Once the ice was perforated, the woman started coaxing the moose to walk towards the dry land.

It took over 30 minutes of more ice-chipping and persuasion for the moose to finally make her way back to the safe land. Relieved, the moose happily walked back into the woods, with fond memories of the kind strangers who helped her. These amazing heroes on ice have surely won our hearts today!
