Cop Breaks Stranger’s Car Window, Then Pulls Pit Bull Out Of 110-Degree Heat Just In Time

As it gets hotter and hotter outside, we sometimes forget that our pets need to avoid the heat just as much as we do. Locking pets inside a car in the summer heat is a crime. In just a matter of minutes, temperatures can climb to well over 100 degrees and put your animal friend in danger. Many people don’t realize this because “just a few minutes” doesn’t seem like a long time.

So when Boynton Beach police got a call from a Good Samaritan about a pit bull in a locked car, they knew they had to act fast.

Sgt. John Dunlop responded and arrived on the scene. He gave the owner a few minutes to come back, but the temperature in the car, with the windows rolled all the way up, was estimated to be about 110 degrees.

So he took his baton and started breaking in one of the windows until he and animal control could safely open the door to let the poor dog out. They gave him water and took him into some shade.

Just a few minutes later, the owner arrived and got a citation as well as a $500 fine. Hopefully, she learned her lesson and will never repeat the offense.

Please SHARE to remind all pet owners that leaving a pet inside a hot car is never OK!
