Pregnant Pup Dumped At “Dead Dog Beach” Was Rescued Just In Time To Give Birth

According to Sophie Gamand, there are an estimated 500,000 stray dogs in Puerto Rico, and the population is sadly still growing. Many of those dogs end up on “Dead Dog Beach.”

“Dead Dog Beach,” also known as Sato Beach, is an infamous dumping ground for unwanted dogs in Puerto Rico. It is located at the end of a long road with no residences. There is also no food or fresh water on the beach.

A lot of abuse occurs on the isolated beach including gang rituals, target practice, and cars running over helpless dogs and puppies.

But not all of these dogs are strays; many of them once lived in homes but were dumped here when they were no longer wanted. Some of those dogs follow people around the beach, wagging their little tails, and looking for their owners or a new person to love them.

This one dog, in particular, was left there to die, without food or water. And if that wasn’t bad enough, she was also pregnant. But her fate quickly changed when she was discovered and rescued by volunteers from The SATO Project, an organization dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs in Puerto Rico, especially on Dead Dog Beach.

The dog, named Luli, was brought to their shelter where they gave her food, water, and took great care of her. She wound up giving birth to three adorable little girls, who they named Kiwi, Lily, and Madisyn, as well as three boys named Nicolas, Winston, and Hugo. Weeks later, the pups were doing great and running all over the place.

Every single one of the seven puppies was adopted into a loving forever home, including Luli who is now named Pepita!
