A dog named Paul raced up until the very last day that it became illegal to hold Greyhound racing in the state of Florida. The poor boy was missing fur on his legs and other parts of his body, and he was very skinny. Paul needed a drastic change in life, but that in itself made him feel very nervous.
When the Greyhound was adopted by Elizabeth and Holden and brought into the city, he was extremely overwhelmed with this new world. The dog didn’t even know where to begin when it came to walking up stairs, and he just froze. But he now had the perfect people to lead him on this journey!
The couple was willing to do whatever it’d take and work with Paul around the clock to help him adjust. They helped him by putting one foot at a time on each step and continuing to encourage him along the way. As a former racer, he didn’t understand relaxing, playing with other dogs, or just being a pet. It was all a work in progress.
As Paul became more and more familiar with his new space, his personality really started to shine through! His confidence soared, and he decided he was going to make up for lost time. And today, he’s flying up and down those stairs! See Paul’s wonderful story in full in the video below. 🙂
