Rottweiler With Cancer Happy Right Until The End Thanks To Family’s Bucket List

When Symon Spencer took his 8-year-old Rottweiler Coco to the vet, he had no idea that he was going to receive devastating news that would change both their lives. Coco was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer and vets said she had anywhere between 4 weeks to a few months to live.

Determined to be brave for his beloved dog, and to make her remaining time as best as it could be, he and his partner Theresa, drew up a bucket list of things they would like to do with Coco before it was time to say goodbye.

Over the next few weeks Coco got to do everything on her bucket list! She travelled up and down the UK ticking items off the list, which included having a 3D scan of her body, sitting in a helicopter, riding in a fire engine and eating a delicious steak dinner. She smiled the entire time.

One of her adventures included going for a swim with daddy.

She was always a happy companion. In his eulogy to her he wrote, “You never asked for anything more than to have me stroke your head so you could go to sleep with your head over my leg.”

Coco enjoyed a day at the beach in the company of friends and family.

She got to meet some of Symon and Theresa’s friends and sit in a metro car.

Hungry from all the activities, it was time for a drive-thru dinner…

…and Coco indulged in her very own burger.

But the fantastic treats weren’t over yet. She also enjoyed a steak dinner at the local pub.

Symon brought Coco home when she was a puppy. “You were so small and cuddly with your tiny paws and soft fur”, he remembers. “You bounced around the room with eyes flashing and ears flopping.”

Throughout all their years together, Coco never had a bad day and Symon said he could always count on her to be there for him.

“When I had a tough day at work, you would be waiting for me with your little heart shaped bum wagging, just to say, ‘Welcome home I’ve missed you,'” he recalls.

Symon got her paw imprinted as keepsake to remember her by. And soon the pain she was in told Symon it was time to say goodbye.

Coco passed away on May 5th, 2015. Symon wrote about those final precious moments, “One last time you were lying next to me, as the vet talked to you, you stopped for an instant turned your head and looked at me as if to say, ‘Thank you for taking care of me,’ I thought, “No thank you for taking care of me.”

What precious memories! Share Coco’s story with the people you care about.

  1. What a beautiful dog she was, and what beautiful owners she had. I’ve cried buckets reading this, but I’m so glad she had a wonderful life
