When an emaciated stray dog with mange and severe sunburn was wandering the streets, she knew she didn’t have much time left. No one would stop to help her, so she took it upon herself to find a way to be rescued.
Luckily, it all worked out for this clever pup who never gave up!

This poor girl was suffering out in the sun; she lost most of her hair because of a mange infection, so she had nasty sunburns covering her body. She knew she needed shelter.

So, at the first chance she got, she hopped into a car’s open door and settled herself inside. The shade was paradise — and she knew that human that drove the car would have to help her out once she was inside!

Thankfully, the person she chose to rescue her had a kind heart. They immediately brought her to a vet so that she could receive medical attention.

Before any examination or procedure, though, the vet saw to it that this stray got some food and water. She was desperately dehydrated and emaciated — it was important to get some nutrition in her body so that the healing process could begin.

After the much needed meal, the doctors looked the stray over. She had mange and needed to put on weight, but otherwise she seemed to be perfectly healthy!

The staff at the clinic began giving her treatments for her sunburn and mange. The lotions and medicated baths soothed the sweetheart; even her expressions showed that she was relaxing and opening herself up to her rescuers.
She didn’t give up on life because of her big heart — and she was eager to share it with loving humans!

Little by little, her hair began to grow back. She also put on weight and slowly added muscle to her tiny frame.

Once her beautiful white fur began to grow back, this sweet pup was ready to find a forever home! She was mange-free and at a healthy weight, so people were lined up, ready to take her home.

Fortunately, this beautiful stray didn’t have to wait long to find a loving mother willing to accept her into her home and heart.

Now, she will never have to face the world alone again! Her new family named her Kelsey and will be there for her for the rest of her life.
We could all learn a thing or two from this brave little girl. She never gave up on herself, no matter how dire the situation — and was determined to save her own life!
