Treya is a Terrier mix who has a haunting survival story that gives us the chills. Treya’s owner was brutally murdered about 5 years ago, which left the dog stranded in her vacant house.
She was chained under a trash-covered deck in the backyard where neighbors would throw her some crumbs to survive, but no one wanted to come near her.

By the time some local firefighters found her, Treya was a physically and emotionally damaged dog.
She had chewed off one of her paws in an attempt to free herself from the chains, while the prolonged isolation had turned her into a traumatized pooch who refused to come out of her shell.
Treya was taken to “Stray Rescue of St. Louis.”, where the workers realized that she was used to living in her “private, agonizing world”.
Treya was very terrified of humans and would never interact with anyone. The worried staff transferred her to their Trauma Center and hoped that her mental wounds would heal eventually.

Just when Treya’s future started looking bleak, a newly rescued dog named Pinky found her. The caretakers were amazed to see Treya wag her tail for the first time in Pinky’s presence! There was hope for her after all!

Treya is slowly recovering in her medical foster home now, and Pinky’s balmy friendship is really helping her make peace with her unfair past.
The rescue hopes to get her a prosthetic leg when she is completely healed. Stay strong Treya, we are rooting for you!
