NBA superstar Lonnie Walker IV wants you to stop leaving dogs in hot cars. The San Antonio Spurs pro basketball player took his dog, Zola out with the help of a friend.
He wants people to know how an animal’s life is put in immediate danger when they are left behind in a scorching vehicle.
To demonstrate, Lonnie’s friend took the pup into a store, leaving Lonnie behind in the vehicle on a very hot day. After five minutes in the car, the temperature reaches 90 degrees.

The video shows how fast the situation becomes dangerous. In 10 minutes, it is 99 degrees. Walker yells out the window, he starts sweating, and after 20 minutes he is ready to pass out at 109 degrees.
Fortunately, this was a demonstration to prove a point. While the NBA star can easily get out of his vehicle, dogs don’t have the same luxury.

He reminds people that heatstroke can occur quickly even with the windows rolled partially down. He shares, “On a 78-degree day, temperatures in a parked car can rapidly increase to 100 degrees.”
