Whale Calf Got Divers’ Attention So They Could Help Free Mama Whale From Fishing Net

In this video, a mother humpback whale is freed from a fishing net and swims away with her calf.

Heading to the second dive spot for the day, Captain Faizel and Dive leader Jeannot spotted a whale calf jumping frantically in the distance. The divers decided to veer off and check it out closer.

When they got in the water, all they could focus on was a gigantic fishing net covering the mother. The net was restricting the whale's movements and badly bruising the skin probably for days.

The video shows the series of actions taken to remove the net. When they finished, they pulled the net in the boat and it weighed about half a ton, it was brought back to land and discarded.

The whole process took one and a half hours approximately, luckily one of the crews remembered to press the record button on his head-mounted GoPro!
