Angela Rafuse adopted her grandfather’s 14-year-old grumpy cat, McKenzie, after her grandfather passed away and expressed fears over what would happen to the pet.
Senior cats are often the last to be chosen, even though many are calm, affectionate and used to living in a home. For Angela, adopting her grandparents’ beloved cat, McKenzie, made her realize that many seniors faced the same heartbreaking dilemma, and how many older pets end up without a plan.
So she founded the non-profit My Grandfather's Cat, which helps seniors and terminally ill people rehome their pets, making sure cats like McKenzie don’t get left behind. ![]()
