Woman Finds Dumped Blind and Deaf Puppy Shivering in Parking Lot

Samantha Faucette wasn’t expecting to rescue a puppy just before Christmas but that’s what happened when she found the pup shivering from the cold in the middle of a parking lot outside her workplace in Kentucky.

She quickly realized the puppy had not only been abandoned but she was blind and deaf.

On December 24th, Faucette posted to the Facebook Group page Let’s Grow Berea asking for advice.

She shared, “Someone dumped this puppy this morning at my job, I realized that it was a double merle I believe and is blind and deaf! Sick people realized they couldn’t make any money off her I guess and decided to dump her.”

“I’m gonna try my best to give her a great life, I made this post to see if anyone has experience with blind and deaf pups? Any advice would be helpful,” Faucette continued.

“She’s very playful also is there any places that help with vet bills with rescues? And I’m guessing she’s a mini Aussie. Not 100% what do y’all think?”

Faucette quickly learned that “Alfie” as she named the puppy is a Sheltie. A few members of the group noted that there had been a person(s) in the very same parking lot allegedly with a “free puppies” sign and one of the puppies was missing an eye, just like Alfie.

Some people speculated that another person may have taken the free puppy only to dump it in the parking lot later.

Thankfully, Faucette didn’t leave Alfie behind and brought the puppy home and in doing so has changed the puppy’s fate from dark to bright.

Alfie’s blindness and deafness comes from backyard breeding. Sometimes called a “lethal white”, double merles are a result of two merle dogs being bred.

A day later Faucette posted a picture of Alfie napping in a crate. She wrote, “Overwhelmed with the kindness of everyone in this group and the people that have donated to go towards vet bills and pet supplies and the people that have offered things that would help her. It’s so sweet!”

She has taken Aflie to the vet and set up a TikTok channel “Alfie’s Adventures” to share news on Alfie. She told the group that Alfie is “spunky and has a lot of personality.”

Alfie is getting along great with her new canine siblings.

And Faucette is eager to teach Alfie what she is learning about training blind and deaf dogs. She’s already started on vibration learning.

Alfie is so fortunate to have been rescued when she was and by such a kind family. Keep up with Alfie’s adventures on TikTok.
